Looking for the best Shogun Genshin Impact Raiden build? Also known as Raiden Ei or Baal (depending on the circumstances), he is the main villain in the Inazuma storyline and recently joined the growing roster of new Genshin Impact characters. Archon has proven very popular since he was introduced, and now we know there will be a Raiden Shogun rerun banner in the second half of Genshin Impact 2.5, alongside Kokomi’s rerun banner.
We’ve put together a handy guide to bring you all the latest information on what’s the best about Raiden Shogun builds. Make sure to take all Raiden Shogun’s raise materials as well as you plan his abilities. Although he wields a sword in most of the game’s cutscenes, Raiden is actually an Electro polearm user, drawing his sword through his elemental blasts. While you can easily direct your team to support Raiden Shogun as the main DPS, he can also act as an excellent supporter for other high damage characters as Raiden’s abilities still cause trouble for enemies without him having to be center stage.
Here’s everything we know about the best Raiden Shogun builds, including weapons, artifacts, team composition, and even some advice for F2P players.
BUILDING SUPPORT GENSHIN IMPACT Raiden Shogun
- Weapon: Crashing Lightning (polearm)
- Artifacts: Disconnected Destiny Emblem (four pieces)
Five-star characters are usually released alongside special weapons designed with their stats in mind. It’s clear that Raiden Shogun is no ordinary character as he launches with both custom polearms, Crashing Lightning, and artifact set, The Symbol of the Disconnected Destiny.

Crashing Lightning increases Ei’s attack by 28% over base 100%, giving him an attack bonus of up to 80%. He also gains 30% energy recharge for 12 seconds after using his elemental blast, guaranteeing a bonus attack every time you use his special ability.
Alternatives include Homa staffwhich increases HP by 20% and provides an attack bonus based on maximum HP, and Primordial Jade Winged Spear, which increases attack by 3.2% every time you get hit for 6 seconds. You can stack this up to 7 times, with an additional 12% attack buff if you manage to hit the max stack.
Broken Fatethe two-part bonus set gives Ei an additional 20% to his energy recharge rate, while the four-part set increases his elemental blast damage by 25% of his energy recharge (up to a maximum of 75%). Replenishing energy is very important to Raiden as his abilities require a lot of power – this build ensures he has plenty of energy at all times.
Raiden Shogun builds team composition
To harness all this energy, we’re going to want a major DPS character like Kazuha to defeat the enemy when Ei’s elemental skill is active. Combining Electro with Anemo is a great way to cause elemental Swirl reactions, giving multiple areas of effect damage without any effort.
As a support character, Raiden Shogun spends a lot of time off the field after he activates his elemental skills. Where Ei distinguishes himself from most support characters is his elemental explosion – this ability requires him to be active on the battlefield. So he played the role of a support and sub-DPS hybrid, where someone like Fischl remained largely off the pitch.
There are several different teams you can build based on this fact. He pairs well with the newly released Yae Miko, which also needs a battery character like Raiden Shogun to help recharge since he’ll be out on the field a lot. You can also pair it with Cryo characters like Rosary or eula to maximize the damage output.
There’s even an argument for running two Cryo characters with Ei to deal as much damage as possible. With the Cryo character in the party, we can trigger Superconduct, reducing the enemy’s physical defense by 50%. Rosaria does well in this role because she’s a fantastic battery – Ganyu is also a great choice, although he arguably does better in the main DPS role.
Genshin Impact Raiden Shogun builds F2P
For free-to-play players or those looking to get the most out of Raiden without spending too much money, Catch is an excellent free alternative weapon, as it is quite easy to obtain provided you catch the required number of rare fish
Four pieces Broken Fate The artifact set is by far the best option for unleashing Raiden’s potential, and thankfully it’s available for free just by running the Momiji-Dyed Court domain. Exile is another decent set that you can get for free too, as it focuses on recharging and interacting Elemental Burst.
In terms of team composition, and Electro or Anemo Traveler can complement the Raiden team which is more focused on DPS, alongside someone like barbara for healing.
